FAQ

  • It’s a mind opening experience to connect with your body and how it moves. Even if you don’t work as a Pilates teacher, the Pilates teacher training is like a masters degree in your own body.

Being a Pilates teacher is a nice side gig or full time job. It pays pretty well. And there’s currently not a lot of competition for jobs. And, it’s the type of job you can do 1 hour a week or 30 hours a week.

Besides the pay, it is super fulfilling to help guide someone through Pilates exercises. The way you will be taught to teach Pilates is accepting of the weaknesses and asymmetries a person has and respects those weaknesses when choosing exercises. You will also acknowledge the person’s strengths and encourage them to not lean on those strengths and find other ways to move.

  • There is an online anatomy overview for the non-PTs. And, I will be available to meet with you 1:1 if you have any follow up questions.

  • Outside of class, there is an additional 400 hours which will be comprised mostly of self practicing the exercises, student teaching, observing other people teach, and some homework.

There is about 2 hours of written homework in between the weekends.

  • Hours can be accumulated as soon as you start weekend 1.

  • You can take as long as you need to accumulate the hours. They just need to accumulated before taking the On the Move exam which includes written exam and lab practical.

  • Hours can be done at On the Move. On the Move employees doing training can use the equipment whenever it doesn’t conflict with our patient/student services. If you are not an employee, you don’t have to pay to use and practice on the equipment. You just have to come in during a time that an employee is in and give priority to patients/clients.

You can also do observations online on pilatesanytime.com or YouTube. I will be giving you a login.

  • All material and hours need to be completed before taking the final exam.

Material taught on the first weekend must be digested before participating in the following weekends.

To makeup a class/weekend, you can either pay for 1:1 time with your lead teacher or you can take that class without a charge with the next cohort.

  • Training to become a Pilates Teacher is challenging and rightfully so. Pilates teachers are often given the responsibility to help people through their health and fitness journey. In the end, you will have a new career option and an amazing tool to add to your tool belt.

Often, people feel nervous about the commitment. Typically, after the first weekend they feel hopeful and confident in the material and after the 3rd weekend, they feel a little overwhelmed

You will start to feel pretty good about 3 months after your last weekend of classes.

And, being a Pilates teacher is a wonderful practice that continues to provide opportunities to dive deeper into your understanding of your body, the movements, and how the movements help you and others.

  • Yes! Please contact info@onthemovephysio.com and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.

  • In order to graduate from the On the Move Pilates teacher training, you must pass the above exam.

In order to become a “Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher” you must take a written exam provided by the national Pilates Certification Program: https://nationalpilatescertificationprogram.org/
