Dr. Nicole Jackman, DPT
Nicole earned her Bachelor of Science in International Studies from Southern Oregon University and her Doctor of Physical Therapy from Samuel Merritt University in Oakland. For her doctoral capstone, she co-developed a community-based research project focused on strength training and injury prevention in youth hip-hop dancers in collaboration with Destiny Arts Youth Performance Company. She also co-presented a movement lab at the 2025 International Association for Dance Medicine & Science (IADMS) Conference with Dr. Alyssa Herrera-Set, centered on Pilates-based exercises for safe spinal extension.
Nicole is a National Certified Pilates Teacher who integrates Pilates-based principles into her clinical practice. At the clinic, she teaches a specialized Pilates class for youth, adolescent, and teen dancers with a focus on strength, control, and injury prevention to support developing bodies and growing artists. She also works as a part-time physical therapist with Alonzo King LINES Ballet and provides backstage physical therapy support for dance companies, productions, and musical theater performances throughout the Bay Area.
Nicole brings over a decade of experience teaching dance and movement to children, adolescents, and adults of all levels. As a former professional ballet dancer, she trained rigorously from a young age and worked with institutions including The Kirov Academy of Ballet in Washington, D.C., The Harid Conservatory, Boston Ballet, The Royal Danish Ballet in Copenhagen, and Oakland Ballet. She has also worked with ODC Dance in San Francisco, where she taught ballet and contributed to the Youth & Teen Program.
Movement is life. Nicole loves to move and to watch others move, and she is passionate about helping each person reach their movement goals. She believes deeply in injury prevention, not only to support the longevity of dancers and athletes, but to help people of all ages and interests move well for life. As a physical therapist, she sees her role not just as treating injury or pain, but as promoting education, prevention, and long-term health.
Nicole lives in San Francisco, where she enjoys dancing, traveling, cooking, reading, and listening to music, whether at live concerts or at home.
